It’s not mandatory, but yes, if you want to avoid delays, reduce inheritance tax, and make sure your money goes exactly where you intended you need to take action. Without the right planning, your policy may well go through probate or become part of your taxable estate. Thats why good advisers now recommend a trust is put in place.
Most life insurers and brokers do offer Trusts, but until now, the process has been largely without guidance, paper-based, and confusing or costly. Genie changes that by guiding you step-by-step and making the process effortless.
On average, 10 – 15 minutes to create your Trust. Just answer a few simple questions, and Genie builds your personalised Trust, ready for digital signing.
We charge £25 for setting up your Genie account and once that’s established you can set up as many Trusts as you need to and each Trust only costs £1 to create, have signed and delivered It’s part of our mission to help life insurance deliver on its promise.
No – there are no ongoing managment costs involved for the trust you create – the Genie account set up fee of £25 is all you pay to get access to the Trust creation Service – and £1 per Trust (created, signed, and delivered for you)

Yes. Genie creates legally recognised Trust documents based on your needs.
Yes. Genie’s digital signature system is accepted by virtually all major UK life insurers – Zurich is the only exception to this (but we’re helping them get there)
In the vast majority of cases, yes. Genie has been built in collaboration with advisers and insurers and meets the requirements of all the major UK life insurance providers.
Yes. Your Will governs your estate but won’t ensure you money gets to those you care about fast and tax free. . A Trust allows your life insurance to bypass probate, which slows everything down,and ensures it goes directly to the people you choose – so it’s faster than a Will can be and more certain.
Using the Platform
Genie asks a few questions about your policy, those you trust, and your beneficiaries. Based on your answers, it selects the appropriate Trust type for your situation.
Yes. Genie gives you access to your Trust at any time. If life changes, you can review your documents and update them as needed using a tool provided in your Genie account
Your Genie Vault is a secure digital space where your Trust and insurance documents are stored. You can access it anytime and give access to trusted people.
You can share access with family members, Trustees, or anyone you choose. Genie gives you full control over who, just like you will be able to view or download your documents.
Genie provides helpful step-by-step guidance for your trusted people, including clear instructions and reminders through the platform.
Genie is an online only service and I’m afraid the cost of providing telephone service would push the price of our services beyond where it is, so to keep costs as low as possible we designed a truly intuitive and easy journey for our users.
Security & Data
Yes. Genie uses bank-level encryption and secure hosting to protect your personal and financial information.
Only you and the people you explicitly authorise. Genie will never share your information without your permission.
Genie sends your signed Trust directly to your insurer and to you and will only contact your family or Trustees if you’ve given permission or shared access through the platform and want us to do so.
For Brokers & Insurers
Advisers can refer clients to Genie directly or integrate Genie into their advice journey. This improves Trust take-up without adding admin.
Yes. Genie can be branded and embedded into your existing client journey, offering a seamless in-house Trust experience.
Absolutely. We work with brokers, networks, and insurers to tailor Genie into onboarding, protection reviews, or post-sale journeys.
